What is PRP Therapy?
At Renuvia Medical Center, Dr. Arthur Schlyer is proud to perform platelet-rich plasma therapy, also called PRP, which refreshes your facial appearance. PRP therapy is one of the most popular and innovative cosmetic procedures in the aesthetic industry because of its natural origin and thrilling results. The procedure uses your plasma to stimulate collagen production in your skin, decreasing the prevalence of fine lines and wrinkles. Sometimes combined with microneedling, this popular procedure is known as the Vampire Facial. If you'd like to learn more about PRP therapy, please call Renuvia Medical Center in New Port Richey, FL to schedule a consultation. Dr. Schlyer is happy to discuss all the benefits of PRP and how it can improve your skin.

Ideal Candidates
Women and men who want to improve the texture and tone of their complexion are typically good candidates for PRP therapy. Since PRP therapy naturally promotes collagen production, it is also a great treatment choice if you have tired or dull-looking skin. Also, if you have fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, or acne scars, this treatment can help reduce some of these skin problems. Please let Dr. Schlyer know ahead of time if you have any skin conditions, blood disorders, or anemia to ensure that you can safely undergo PRP therapy.
Our Platelet-Rich Plasma Technique
We perform PRP therapy in our spacious, private procedure rooms. At the beginning of your treatment, Dr. Schlyer will draw a small amount of blood from one of your arms and place it in a centrifuge. Most of the time, he draws around four tablespoons worth of blood. After approximately 15 minutes in the centrifuge, the different components of your blood start to separate. Once that happens, we load the platelet-rich plasma into a sterile syringe and inject it into the designated areas of the face. This final part of the process usually only takes about five minutes but can vary.
What to Expect
Plasma from PRP therapy naturally promotes the production of elastin and collagen to reveal tighter, more youthful-looking skin. Because this treatment uses your blood, the risk of adverse or allergic reaction is virtually nonexistent. You should expect your face to appear a little red after the procedure because a few red blood cells might be in the injection. Patients can use cold compresses on the treatment site to reduce discomfort or minor swelling. We recommend undergoing treatments every 4 – 6 weeks.
Glowing Skin
Thanks to PRP treatments, your skin will look healthier and brighter than ever before and will produce a beautiful, glowing complexion. This procedure is perfect for people who want to use a natural method of skin rejuvenation that produces stunning results.
