About Myers' Cocktail

At Renuvia Medical Center, Dr. Arthur Schlyer is proud to provide IV vitamin therapy, a fast and easy treatment that can improve your energy levels. To help you feel better, we offer appointments for this intravenous therapy. In only 45 minutes, the Myers’ Cocktail therapy (named after Dr. John Myers who specialized in helping chronically ill patients) can help you feel rejuvenated and refreshed. We can personalize this treatment to meet your needs, whether it's for a hangover, dehydration, pain, allergies, depression, tiredness, or something else. At your visit with Dr. Schlyer, we can discuss your goals and concerns and determine the best nutrients for your IV therapy. We will strive to help you feel and look your best.

What's in The Cocktail?

This nutrient solution is a specially balanced combination of vitamins and minerals that we tailor to meet your needs. Myers’ Cocktail or IV vitamin therapy may include Vitamin B-12, Vitamin B Complex, Vitamin C, Calcium, Glutathione, Magnesium, Zinc, Amino acids, and IV fluids.

This treatment is administered intravenously to help with a range of conditions and to increase energy. The Myers' Cocktail may improve the following conditions:

  • Acute or chronic muscle spasms
  • Migraine headaches (often within minutes)
  • Tension headaches
  • Narcotic withdrawals
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Respiratory problems
  • Acute or chronic asthma
  • Sinusitis
  • Bronchitis
  • Seasonal allergic rhinitis
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Ischemic vascular disease
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Athletes who need quick recovery for athletic events
  • Acute viral illness/colds
  • Acute infections

Is It Safe?

Myers' cocktail is a safe, effective, and minimally invasive therapy that is well tolerated by most people. It does, however, carry a low risk of serious adverse side effects. If the protocol is administered quickly patients may experience warmth and flushing because of the rapid rise in magnesium. Some patients may also have the taste of vitamins in their mouth shortly after they are given the infusion.

Patients taking digoxin (lanoxin) or a potassium-depleting drug should inform Dr. Schlyer of this before beginning the Myers' Cocktail protocol.

Treatment Technique

It only takes about 45 minutes to administer the Myers’ Cocktail treatment. We'll start by having you sit in a comfortable treatment chair while we set up the IV drip. Next, we'll gently insert the IV into your arm, and all you need to do is relax while the micronutrients enter your blood. Depending on your needs, Dr. Schlyer may recommend that you schedule a series of appointments once a week during the first month. Following the first month and for maintenance injections, patients may need just one or two appointments each month. We will discuss your needs, medical conditions, and symptoms during your consultation so that we can develop the best treatment plan for you.

What to Expect

Before attending your appointment, we highly recommend coming in well hydrated and having eaten a good meal. Drinking plenty of water will help move and absorb the vitamins throughout your body. For some patients, if we administer the supplement on an empty stomach, they may feel lightheaded or faint after the appointment. After your appointment, you may experience certain benefits, including:

  • Increased energy levels
  • Reduced anxiety
  • Improved immunity
  • Improved emotional wellness

If you have any questions or if you feel like you are experiencing a reaction to the infusion, please let us know as soon as possible.
